I started only posting photos for custom cakery and custom creations only on those blogs but I figured most of you don't follow those (boo.) so I'll go back to adding photos etc. on this blog as well

I'll do them seperately though for this one...Three new ones!!! YAY!

Souper-Fri.....Saturday!

So I finally am getting to post my soup recipe for the week!! I've been so busy with cakes that I'm doing it a day late..But it's a tasty one! Potato soup from O'charleys..the kind that when you take your spoon out of the bowl there is a long "string" of cheese and yumminess :)

Here's what you'll need

16 oz. Velveeta
1 Stick butter
1/4 C. Flour
8 C. half and half
5 Potatoes ( I use red with the skins still on its up to you)
White Pepper to taste (usually around a tsp.)
1 Drop of your favorite hot sauce...ONLY one drop!
Chives
Bacon
Use both chives and bacon to taste...I use loaddddds

So I start out with boiling my potatoes for around 15 minutes just to where they have a tiny bit of crunch left to cook out with the soup

Once they are done, drain and set aside.

Melt the butter and slowly whisk in the 1/4 c. flour until thick

Add the half and half and slowly add diced pieces of the velveeta being sure to stir it in so it doesn't just sink to the bottom and burn

Once velveeta is thoroughly incorporated add in the white pepper, hot sauce, chives, bacon, and potatoes....Simmer stirring occassionally for about 10-15 mins.

(i usually add about half of a bag of additional finely shredded cheddar cheese as well)

Serving time!!

Serve however your heart desires I serve mine with a small dolip of sour cream, lots of bacon and chives and some cheddar cheese on top :)

Enjoy!

I'm in love with fall

So fall is just around the corner....my FAVORITE time of the year!!! I just love the weather, the fashion, the food...everything about fall. However, being pregnant I have been pretty sad at the attire that I'll be tied to this fall...no more skinnies with boots and long tunics or cardigans :( boo.
I've already started off with the soups..which Hey now people, what happened with soup-er friday?huh?...Yeah everyone should do it!! This friday I will be making either O'charley's loaded potato soup, cheesy chicken chowder, or clam chowder...haven't decided yet. And boy oh boy am I ready to make loaddddds of pumpkin yummies!!!

I feel awful but I just don't have time right now to post photos, I will tomorrow I'm sure when I actually have time. I've been alone all week with Aaron off in Albuquerque and have kept myself VERY busy. I still need to post photos of the baby shower festivities which were awesome...I was really happy with the shower. Now our house is packed to the brim with baby things and I'm feeling extremely chlostrophobic and ready to move. But this week I had a large bridal shower cake, a birthday cake, cupcakes, and practice+actually doing a girls hair and make up for the homecoming court. I'm so excited about the bridal shower cake..it's one of the largest I've done so far (3 tiers) and I took a big risk piping black onto a white cake but I love it! I'll post pictures soon

P.S. pray for my accident prone hubby that is up on a roof again today..He's already fallen off and landed straight on his bad knee and my brother in law has already almost fallen off and dislocated his thumb...not good!

Soup-er Friday!...yum!

Ok so this week I made TWO batches of soup! One for me and my mom since we don't like "spicy" soup and one for the boys!

This recipe is for Chicken Florentine from Biaggi's....It is my FAVORITE! and it is super easy!

1-1.5 cups of Asiago cheese
2 pinches of nutmeg
1 Tbsp olive oil
1 Tbsp butter
1 small onion chopped
3 garlic cloves
1 pkg frozen spinach thawed and drained
3 chicken breasts cooked and cut into bite size pieces
1 Carton of chicken stock
3/4 cup Half and Half
LOTS of salt and pepper
(flour optional if you want a thicker soup)
Croutons

Sautee the onions and garlic in the olive oil and butter then add the spinach along with nutmeg and cook for a couple of mins.

Add chicken stock, cheese, & half and half along with salt and pepper to taste

Simmer for about 15 mins and voila easy peasy you have a delicious soup!!!

Told you guys this was simple!...add croutons when serving (this is what really makes it for me)

Spicy sausage minestrone..Beware..this makes a VERY large batch of soup..but the left overs are delicious and soup is amazing because you can freeze it and get it out whenever you're in the mood :)

1 lb. Hot sausage
1 lb. Mild or sweet sausage (sausage is up to you, if you don't want it to be spicy then use mild and regular)
1 Green Pepper
1 Zuchini
1 large potato
1 Large Onion
3 Cloves garlic
3 Cans stewed tomatoes
1 Carton Beef Stock
1 Can light kidney beans
Spices (all to taste)-Oregano, Red pepper flakes, Flat parsley coarsely chopped, salt and pepper
1 Box small pasta of your choosing-cooked and drained

Cook both sausages and drain leaving one tbsp of renderings in the pot

Add onion and garlic to sautee along with the chopped zuchini, potatoe, and green pepper- Sautee for around 5-8 mins

Add Sausage back into pot along with tomatoes (include the juice), kidney beans (include juice), and stock

Add spices to taste and simmer for around 20 mins

Add the cooked noodles simmer for 10 mins

Serve!!! YUMMMMM

I also served these soups with Paninis

They were turkey bacon paninis on rosemary and sea salt foccacia :)

For dessert I made a blood orange sorbet and a raspberry sorbet...from scatch..always amazing!

Shower,Cakes, and Craziness

Finally the time has arrived for the baby shower! Whoo hoo! I've seriously been anxious about it since i found out i was pregnant...weird right? Well it is this Saturday and I am so excited!!!! I've been doing things for it all week, making favors, cakes, cute little things :) I guess it is just because it is people all coming to one place because they are excited for Noah or something but I'm anxious for it!

Cakes, cakes, cakes...haha I have definately been getting busier which is awesome! I have one this week (and mine), two next week, one after that, and then a beautiful wedding cake on Oct. 3! I'm pretty excited because I've been getting orders for "pretty" cakes too!

Well, we are still anxiously awaiting our home to be finished...as of now they are finishing up painting and still have the floors and cabinets to install...Ugh I hate being so impatient, it's a horrible trait! I'm just ready to get the moving part over with and get settled before Aaron takes his trip to Albuquerque and Noah get's here...Our house is getting full of stuff for the little guy already and after Saturday I'm sure it will probably just get worse.

Speaking of our little man...:) I'm getting so ready for him to be here! I can't wait just to hold him and smell baby lotion all the time! hehe He moves sooo much and he's big enough to where I have been watching my belly do the wave and shift around when he does..it's truly the best feeling!
